Install mimic Chrome Extension

Follow these simple steps to install mimic on your Chrome browser

Download the Extension

Click the button below to download the mimic Chrome extension as a ZIP file.

Note:

The extension is currently in development and not available on the Chrome Web Store. This is why we're providing a direct download.

Extract the ZIP File

After downloading, locate the ZIP file in your downloads folder and extract its contents to a folder on your computer. Make sure to remember where you extracted the files, as you'll need this location in the next step.

Open Chrome Extensions Page

Open Google Chrome and navigate to the Extensions page using one of these methods:

  • Type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter
  • Or click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of Chrome, then select "More tools" > "Extensions"

Enable Developer Mode

On the Extensions page, look for the "Developer mode" toggle in the top-right corner and make sure it's turned ON.

Load the Extension

Click the "Load unpacked" button that appears after enabling Developer mode. In the file browser that opens, navigate to the folder where you extracted the ZIP file, select the folder (which should contain the manifest.json file), and click "Select Folder" or "Open".

Verify Installation

If the installation was successful, you should see the mimic extension appear in your list of installed extensions. You should also see the mimic icon in your Chrome toolbar.

Troubleshooting:

If you encounter any issues during installation:

  • Make sure you've extracted all files from the ZIP
  • Verify that the folder you selected contains the manifest.json file
  • Try restarting Chrome after installation
  • Check for any error messages in the Extensions page

Start Using mimic

Click on the mimic icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the side panel and start using the extension. Refer to our documentation for more information on how to use mimic to create visual documentation of web processes.
